From a Barefooter:
This beautiful site with 45 pitches is 15 minutes drive from Foix, the capital of the Ariege, and a wonderful find. The pitches are large and well spread out – ours was surrounded with shoulder-high bracken so we could hardly see our nearest neighbours, while some pitches for caravans and motorhomes are in more open space.
Pascaline offered us a warm welcome, guessing our names as the last people she was expecting to check in that day, and added us onto the next day’s bread order despite us arriving after the formal deadline.
The campsite has a pool, sauna, hot tub, and there are communal meals twice a week – we thoroughly enjoyed the one we attended. There is an honesty bar with some basic non-perishable groceries, and on nights when there isn’t a communal meal, Pascaline offers foods like mussels, pizza etc from the ‘snack’.
The Ariege is a beautiful region in the foothills of the Pyrenees, with lots to enjoy, and we had one of the best meals of our holiday in a small restaurant in Foix. We were the only British visitors – probably majority French with a lesser number of Dutch, and one German couple while we were there.
