Agios Ioannis beach
Details
2024 August: (Barefooter Report) Agios Ioannis beach is a beautiful, litter free, natural beach facing South, with small pebbles, crystal clear waters and silence except the birds. Snorkelling here was something else, with shoals of small fish swimming around you. However, this beach is remotely located and as such you will need to walk. The trail to the beach is reasonably straight forward, starting at the small chapel and keeping to the right-hand side of the fence going down the hill. It might be only 0.75 km’s but the ascent is 212m, which you will have to climb on the way back! Getting to the chapel requires driving through a farm and opening the gates. (It looked private, but the owner said hello and we carried on). One point to note, the last few meters to the beach requires using a rope. This is to assist getting down, but this might not be to everyone’s liking.
There doesn’t seem to be any issues going nude. On one day we visited some young people turned up and they went nude and then another group arrived by boat, but they wore swim suits, yet they didn’t mind people being nude. On another occasion two other couple were nude like us.
