IONIAN COAST – Kaiafas – Zacharo

There is a beach at the Thermae of Kaiafa on the west side of Peloponnisos, 5 minutes from Zaxaro. It is an enormous sandy beach just in front of the railway station of Kaiafa. There is a small forest on the beach where free camping is practised. The beach is so long that it can never be crowded. Anyone who wants to practise nudism will surely find a place to do so, especially on the left side as you face the sea. The day my contributor was on the beach (August 2002) there were 6 people, all nude, at a distance of about 100 metres.

2017 August: Typically not a nudist beach but so long that it can never be crowded. The left side of the beach, as you face the sea, is more promising for nudism. During the day of my visit, 2-3 people were naked there about 300m far from the Kaiafa railway station.
2019 August: You can access this nudist beach either by parking near the railway station to the north and then walk south or by parking near tavern Miltos to the south and walk north on the beach. We visited the southern part, parked 10m from the beach and walked a bit to the north. Throughout the day, not a single person came by or near our spot. Nudists were scattered at least 100m apart from each other. Also noticed a few camping tents under the trees behind the beach.
2020 August: Visited the beach twice and parked on the beach following the path to Tavern Miltos. If you walk to the right (north) the beach is 100% nudist and visitors are far from each other.
Again, here you have to be very careful not to step on turtle nests marked by bamboo sticks or tree branches.
2021 June: The beach is easily accessible, clean - sandy bottom. Good news ends here. When we arrived there I noticed a peeping tom staring just at the back of the beach. He was there wearing mirror sunglasses, so I noticed the sun at his sunglasses! He is recording naked bodies with his phone, as we clearly saw. My wife told me that she has no problem if he "use" these videos for his own pleasure but if he will upload them on a site of voyeurism, nobody can stop him. We warned another naked couple and we left. A pity.
2022 July: The beach is still nudist but there are strange people walking and parking near the beach. You need to be careful.

Came in from the southern end, where the carpark gives easy access to the beach. The northern end seems to have a new cafe and other amenities and a TripAdvisor review suggests this has made area around the beach entrance 100% textile. There does seem to be other entrances between these two that nudists seem to be using.
The beach itself is lovely and quiet and from our end the nudity started around the refrigerator (you’ll know it when you see it). Lots of turtle evidence around. Virtually no-one on the beach. Sometimes kilometres of space between other groups. Sandy, a bit of wave dipaction, a smattering of wind.
People walking by at times, but some of these dropped their clothes for a quick skinny dip.
Papanero
The whole beach between the sea and the Kaïafas Lake (from the canal between the lake and the sea southwards until the southern end of the lake) is very calm and suitable for nudism.
On several days in the beginning of June 2025 there were a few naked people (mostly men), far from each other.
When you walk South towards Ζαχάρω (Zacharo), at a certain moment you start seeing clothed people.
