A huge derelict concrete ruin [now disappearing amongst trees] marks a headland with small coves on white sand and clear water. Wonderful little beaches, lots of nude people there; seems to have been discovered by the Swedes. [The first beach north of the ruin is called Hawaii and the next is Kedros.]
Beautiful small beach south of Mikra Vigla. Need a car to access. Not so much a beach as almost a series of coves. Visited early July 2004. Almost entirely naturist (other reports tend to confirm this). Need to scramble down a small cliff to access beach but well worth it. Take adequate supplies of e.g. water as quite some distance from taverna etc. Top of cliff quite well wooded with lots of wild thyme growing. Good snorkelling.
This may well be worth a try; some 2003 contributors thought it the best of the bunch; they shared it with 10 other people. People tended to come and go during the course of the day and it was almost exclusively non-textile. Some days they had the entire beach to themselves for hours, save for the invasion by the naked lady jogger, who slogged up and down for an hour. (Apparently she was back in the summer of 2004). Regulars to this beach may also recognise the little Greek man selling his, I think, Cheese & Tomatoes, in the lower photograph..
2005 July: asserts that Aliko is the best beach. 98% nude. On Saturday and Sunday 30 people there. The others days there were 10-20 people. My contributor says it is the same paradise that they saw 13 years ago, the first time they experienced naturism. We hope in the future things will not change.
2006 June: the beach was still excellent and clean with only the odd textile. Only about a dozen on beach. onshore winds whipped up the shingle but certainly an excellent, peaceful place.
2007 June: Alyko beach was still absolutely recommendable for nudist bathing. The disadvantages: 1. you have to have some means of transport (no buses). 2. You have to take supplies (there is a taverna - Faros - close by but you have to walk a bit). 3. There is no shade at all (a cheap parasol costs €8.00 which is about the price of 2 beds and a beach parasol for one day!). One bay at Alyko is probably 500 metres long and there were only about 8 groups of people!
Barefoot reporters were there in the middle of the high season with lots of Italian and Greek families, but Alyko still remains a secure option for naturists. Allthough during the day the scenery changes constantly (families with children 100% clothing pop up and go all day long) most of the people in Alyko remain nude and the dressed ones do not mind at all.
Another report from August said there were wonderful spots, about 60% nudes, sometimes even more, but in the southern bays towards Pirgaki (near the ruins) there were no nudists at all in August, but a lot of Greek families.
The Captain hears that the story about the concrete ruin is that it was an ambitious project by an Italian to open a holiday complex, but it bankrupted him and so it was abandoned. There is a certain beauty in the way nature is reclaiming the site — and the beaches are wonderful.
Another spot which is said to be good for naturist snorkelling and rock warming is the headland on the south side of Cape Mikris Viglas, but make sure you get around the headland.
2010 August: the beach is reported as 99% nude!!! Some dressed people might visit the beach but they don’t mind about the nudists at all. Great beach, wonderful sand. The old man still visits the beach, but I could not understand what he sells.
2012 June: Aliko was very quiet, only 5 couples, 3 of whom were naturist. The beach is backed by some great trees. One couple were rough camping.
2015 June: Aliko Beach had 7 couples all of whom were nudist. Lovely beach.
2016 July: Alyko is nudist and wonderful! A sign now "nudity prohibited" (ignore this). On the road also it was written "No nudism Respect" - what does it mean? Fortunately more than 30 nudists were there, a few nude men, mostly nudist couples - the first time I saw a couple consisting of a nude woman and a dressed man. All local young women also dare and go topless. Go there!
Mid September, still a lovely nude beach. 12-15 pairs, some single people. There were nests of turtle on the beach. Got to experience a turtle who was hatched. The old man is coming and trying to sell some "home made" olive oil and raki. Alyko fairly quiet late September but a few nudist couples and a couple of textile couples.
2017 September - Very beautiful and relaxing beach. Ranged from 30% to 90% naturist (almost all couples) on different days and at different times. Access by car and walk through the junipers and cypress forest. Isolated and with no facilities whatsoever. The beach shelves quite steeply and the wind can create quite large waves so not suitable for families with children.
2019 May: Aliko as beautiful as always. 6-8 couples and some single persons. We spent four days at the beach, quiet and peaceful as always. There was one problem, the parking area was closed by big stone, so all cars had to park alongside the road. Wonder how it will look when main season hits the island. Any reports from main season would be great!
On the website, https://www.naxos.net/beaches/alyko/ Name of this beach is mentioned as Kedros beach. Kedros is right after Glyfada beach and it is the northernmost of the beaches of the Alyko peninsula. Further on, Hawaii is the second beach, then Mikro Alyko, and the small sandy beach, Alyko! Some objections about name on this beautiful beach? [These beaches are all identified by name at suitable magnification on Google Maps.]
Mid September: West coast, south of Mikri Vighla. Bay with sandy beach extended to almost Capo Agali. The first stretch called Kastraki beach, the second to the south called Glyphadha beach. Wide desert sections where naturism is possible. To the south of Capo Agali a succession of small beaches followed by a large sandy beach dedicated to naturism (100%), however little frequented in mid-September. On Google maps this stretch is referred to as Aliko naturist. Continuing along the coast to the south, after a small and low promontory, there are several small beaches of various sizes, the largest of which, now close to the promontory on which the eco-monster stands, is referred to as Hawaii beach. Only a few isolated naturists, most of the bathers are textile. The large and beautiful beach of Aliko east of the eco-monster is entirely textile. The subsequent ones, Potamides, Pyrgaki, Psili Ammos, were frequented by non-naturists.
2020 September: Apart from the social distancing, which seemed to be working well (even at the bus ticket shop), the island seemed almost as busy as usual. My beach of choice was Kedros north of Hawaii. I would reckon 80% nudist with a mix of people, no facilities of course and little shelter. It can be affected by the wind but otherwise perfect. I also walked along the length of Plaka beach most days. Nudist couples in the northerly part enjoying the solitude.
2021 June-September: Wonderful sandy beach with very clean waters, ideal for snorkelling, the forest above it is just one of the best cedar forests I've ever seen, sadly during the peak holiday months (July and August) it gets full of free-campers and many times they are not as clean and respectful as they should be. However, this great beach is always an excellent choice for a naturist. The sunset there is just beautiful. There are also a couple of small bays North of Hawaii often used by naturists, but the access to the sea is not easy.
August: The beach is accessed through the protected cedar [juniper?] forest and is 100% naturist. You can find it in Google Maps as Kedros Naturist beach. The beach and sea are amazing with golden sand. You will find many free-campers.
Early October: Best spot we found on the island for naturists - Kedros and Hawaii beaches, especially the former. Well over 75% nudist on Kedros, far fewer on Hawaii. Kedros quite quiet with just a scattering of users. Excellent swimming.
2023 August: Even during mid of August, to my opinion, Kedros beach remains the best place for nudism in Naxos. The beach is as desribed in previous reports. During the day, nudists are about 70-90%, many of the being young people. There are still no facilities at the beach, however, at the entrance of the path leading to Kedros there was a canteen selling coffee, drinks and street food.
2024 July: The whole Alyko beach appeared textile when we went there. We had to find some place for nude sunbathing on the rocks nearby the ruins of the tourist complex. But, good news come: keeping going further around this small cape, Hawai beach had a great attendance of naturists, both Greek and foreigners, at its southern end. During a Meltemi event, the surf way be somewhat high.
