Pefkoulia beach is located about 2 km north of the village of Aghios Nikitas. If you come from Aghios Nikitas village, turn to the left at the "Cafe" sign and park beside the taverna. It is a very long beach split into two sections by rocks over which there is a pathway. There is a taverna on the southern part and this part is completely textile. The nudist part is the northern one over the rocks. In this photo the taverna can be seen on the right. The dark area of water on the shoreline just beyond the taverna marks the outcrop of rocks separating the textile and nudist parts of the beach.

Approaching from the north, 2km before reaching Ag Nikitas, just follow the route for Pefkoulia beach. When you reach the taverna, go right and cross the small bridge. After crossing a small path (100m) you will reach Pefkoulia beach. It's a nice beach, with soft sand, shade under nearby pine trees and rates 90%.

Where you park your car, there is a beach bar with sunbeds-umbrellas and even rooms to rent! A lot of people there too but the beach is very long and most of them stay close to the bar and the sunbeds. As you walk away from the beach bar, you see many free campers under the pine trees and nudism varies from 2% close to the bar, to 100% as you walk north. Long nude walks are said to be possible at this end of the beach. There may be numerous tents on the beach.

At the very end of the beach (north), just before the rocks there is a wonderful area under the pine trees, made by an Austrian couple in around 1998, and maintained every summer (the Captain's contributor carries out the maintenance). Shade, flat areas for camping or siesta, ideal place for the hot days. But we are warned there is an extremely high risk of fire, so please avoid smoking.

Due to the large crowds I would advise anyone visiting the beach in peak season to take along their own food and water. One pair of Barefooters had to wait 2 hours to obtain food at the taverna. Of course the same advice applies out of season when the two tavernas are usually closed.

This beach consists of coarse sand; the great advantage is, especially later in the year, it is sheltered from the wind by the mountains so it really is quite warm. Of course the same mountains provide shade in the summer should you require.

2004 August: a large number of people had taken to using the large rocks that divide the beach as a launch point for motorised hang gliding.

2010: Visitors first passed the beach without noticing it. The name Pefkoulia is not mentioned anywhere (or just very difficult to find). Past the taverna the beach quickly changes from textile to textile + a few nude bathers. Walk another 100m along the beach and you'll find that all people around you are in the nude. It may well be the busiest nude beach at Lefkas, with camping people on the hill behind the beach. The beach is mostly sand with a few bigger rocks in the sea. Not as many insects as on other beaches (like Kathisma).

2016 June: Just after you pass a few rocks there is a long beach. The first part is mixed. But the second half, going north (right side) on a long stretch of several hundred metres, is 100% nude. I visited the beach twice, and each time were between 10 and 25 people. Mostly couples with ages between 30 and 60.

2017 August: Pefkoulia confirmed being a nudist-friendly beach in its northern part (right after the rocks on the right side of it if you face the sea). Being the nude area pretty wide and starting with a mixed part, could be a good compromise for couples and/or families where not all members are nudists. Lots of families in the mixed area, more couples in the northern part which anyway we, a family of 5, preferred. In our opinion it was way much more beautiful, sandy, easy to reach and comfortable than Milos. Going into the water is also less steep than Milos (good if you have kids) and if you like snorkelling you can enjoy the presence of lots of fishes because of its submerged rocks.

Reaching to this beach is pretty easy as it is just a couple of kms north of Agios Nikitas. If you park on the main road, just beware of the falling rocks from the mountain. The tavern offers free showers and a non-nudist swimming pool. On the other side, Agios Nikitas is not nude-friendly at all (or at least anymore). You can go topless but not seen any nudist.

Visited Pefkoulia in August. Everything is the same as described in previous posts, the only slight drawback is large amounts of various litter at several spots in textile part of the beach. Other than that the vibe is still magical.

2019 April/May: Pefkoulia Beach is now well identified in many tourist guides and should no longer be confused with Agios Nikitas Beach See on Google Maps. The latter is in the village of Agios Nikitas itself, much smaller, very touristy and most certainly not naturist. However, the village does have some very good tavernas and bars, some overlooking its’ beach and the village is very picturesque so naturists may consider it worth a visit anyway… The cheese and chilli snacks at T' Agnantio are delicious.

We visited Pefkoulia beach twice at the end of April and early May. As described it is about 2km north of the village of Agios Nikitas and very easy to find. Just keep an eye out for the signs to the “Deck” beach café where there is plenty of parking close to the beach.

Having visited most of the beaches listed on this webpage, in our opinion, for accessibility, soft sand and beautiful turquoise sea, Pefkoulia is possibly the best nudist beach on Lefkas. It is good for swimming although a few metres beyond the waterline the sand shelves into pebbles, some very large. However, they are not rough or jagged so wet shoes aren’t essential but they will make getting in and out of the water considerably easier. There were slightly more pebbles and weed at the northernmost end of the beach when we visited but that may vary with weather and tidal conditions.

When we visited there were about 25 people on the northern "nudist" section of the beach. A mix of m/f and m/m couples and m/f singles. A few were textiles but towards the northernmost end most were naturists. That end of the beach also seems to be recognised as a gay cruising area and there was some sexual activity going on … maybe avoid that part of the beach if that offends!

The trees at the back of the beach are a lovely backdrop which provide welcome shade during hotter times of the year. Even when we visited there were a couple of tents pitched amongst them.
June: On three visits the beach was a perfect clothing-optional beach. Even in the beginning of the beach a mix of nude, topless and clothed peoples. Very nice atmosphere, mix of sand and pebbles, perfect sunsets. If you are on Lefkas and like relaxed nude beaches, visit Pefkoulia!

2020 August: We visited this beach on a workday afternoon. The naturist part is at the north - if it ever started just at the rocks splitting the beach into two (close to the taverna), now it starts about 500 m to the north. As written, it's a sandy beach and if you go down into the water, it starts to be a pebble one, with quite big pebbles and a few rocks on the north side. When we were there, there were some waves so getting into the sea was not that easy. But still very very nice beach.

The south part is 100% textile, then topless girls and nudists start to appear (singles, couples, families) and the concentration of nudist is 100% at the north side. But the far north is obviously a gay beach. Altogether about 30 nudists that afternoon.

Many people are wild camping in the tents above the beach, had we had more time we would have spent there a night as well, it's really a nice place.

2021 October: An alternative access route avoiding using the Deck beachside café car park is to park in the layby adjacent to the northern café entrance, 38°48'15.5"N 20°37'57.5"E See on Google Maps. Immediately to the right of the café gates a flight of steps leads down to a pathway running alongside the (dry) river. A short walk takes you to the bridge mentioned above. Take the steps at the end of the path up onto the bridge, cross over it and continue on the pathway to the beach. We spent several lovely days on Pefkoulia beach. Despite being a bit cloudy and the sea at times being rather rough Pefkoulia is still amazing and in our opinion the best naturist beach on the island.

On the days we visited there were only about eight people on the northern half of the beach and mostly naturists. A lot of sand seems to have been lost from the northernmost end which is now mostly large pebbles and rocks.

August: We visited this beach for a few days. The naturist part is after the rocks splitting the beach into two. Perfect place for naturism!

2022 June: Parked at the layby mentioned previously around 1230 and headed down to the "Deck" bar and onto the beach. Squeezeing past the sunloungers and over the rocks in a minute or two and there were many more people, all clothed. I assumed the mentioned rocks must be much further along, however as I proceded up the beach I started to notice some people were naked. After passing everyone I set down my towel and water and proceeded to remove my clothing - my first time in public. Nobody stared or laughed or anything, and I headed into the water, which was delightful.

Getting out of the water was tricky, with the waves and the stones, I'm sure I loked rather ungainly.

The beach was fairly busy with naturists, however a key takeway is the lack of shade on the beach. As this was on a whim on the way to the airport I decided to head up to the trees in the dunes above the beach for a while to read. I noticed a couple had abandoned a trio of umbrellas though, so like a hermit crab I moved in.

Spent a fair few hours there, it was delightful, and an experience I'll never forget, although I fear I did not apply enough suncream to my shoulders, but sadly my alarm went off and told me I had to head to the airport.

On the walk back to the car I attempted to take a path through the trees near the bar. There were many tents, and eventually reached a sealed off path over the river with graffiti ("Tourists go home", and some unkind words about airbnb). Perhaps these are new villas? I backtracked to the beach and took the route via the cafe/bar.

2023 September: When at the Northern layby, walking down the gray concrete steps may seem counterintuitive but totally worth it. Be careful with mosquitoes, especially in the evening as you will traverse a gorgeous but forested area with the dry river, over the bridge and the wild camping site. You will indeed see a sign with unkind words about foreign tourists and Airbnb. The nudist part is to the North to the place where you arrive on the beach. Absolutely gorgeous location with a very free spirit. Shade opportunities are slim. To the very North there are three sand coves separated by rocks. This part of the beach is mostly male/gay and is a cruising spot (with condoms to be found on the ground). Spent one whole afternoon from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. before heading home. Water is crystal-clear, don't forget your beach shoes as there are many rocks when entering the water which can prove to be very slippery.
