Banana beach is one of the most famous naturist beaches in Greece. It is a beautiful, sandy beach; however it is very busy. It is frequented by both nudists and textiles co-existing peacefully. Be aware, though, that the number of naturists varies and may reduce in peak season or even outside the peak (if you are unlucky, as various disappointed contributors have indicated, you may find few, if any naturists on Banana).
Swimming here is superb. Water sports including parascending are on offer (and yes, we have seen a nude parascender). Food and drink are available. There is shade at the back of the sand.
2007: Visitors in late July and August found Big Banana textile only, with lots of drum and bass in the late part of the afternoon. In contrast, Little Banana was great …
2010: Main beach textile only with 2 new/expanded beach bars with drum and bass. Small cove to the south end of beach 100% skin and very friendly. Loungers and parasols.
2013 June: The naturist area has been taken over by a new purpose-built bar and restaurant. It was built into the rocks at the back of the beach, and the beach area is now used by their customers. It has its own road from the top of the hill. A small group of naturists started to use the area the other side of the rocks but they felt very uncomfortable and they now use Little Banana.
The other two tavernas are closed. As with all beach tavernas and sun beds the licences have only been granted for one year and people are not prepared to bid and invest for only a 12 month period. This came about as there are elections for a new mayor next year.
2014: Banana beach is now off limits to skins (I see what you did there - Cap'n). Nudists have been relegated to Little Banana only. Most users have moved to another beach which has made that beach a bit crowded. They are definitely cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
