It is being suggested that the Mayor designates Kriffi Amos beach as a dedicated naturist area. So please respect your textile neighbours otherwise the only losers will be us naturists.
I have suggested that signs showing somebody is entering a naturists area are clearly displayed to ease the tension
2013 September: The old taverna, seemingly derelict for the last 4 yrs has re-opened (very tasty food!!) and boats carrying textiles visit daily, but they mainly stick to the numerous sunbeds and umbrellas right outside the tavernas. We walked 300 yards to the right and found ourselves amongst nudes every day during our 2 week stay but it is still littered with driftwood, dried seaweed and loads of plastic bottles and rubbish and looks quite dirty.
2 hotspots with driftwood constructions to allow for a bit of extra privacy. Once we got our bearings we discovered a sandy road and drove our jeep to within 150 yards of the far end and saw the same friendly faces every day.
If the wind is from the south the sea is like a millpond. On a couple of days when there was a strong northerly, the sea was whipped up with huge rollers and a massive current making it dangerous to bathe in but lots of fun if you are fit and able.
2017 June: Visited this beach for the first time, along with a few friends, as we can no longer access Little Banana (LB) by car. More than twice the size of LB. The sand is quite coarse. It can get very windy at times, and flotsam on the beach is quite common due to the wind and rough sea depending on the wind direction, although the staff at the Taverna do clean it up. It is very much a local’s beach that is visited by tourist boats who use the Taverna.
Naturists have plenty of space away from the Taverna and the local Greek visitors. I would ask that newcomers to the beach respect that not all like to see naked bodies and respect that view, so do not encroach too close to the textile end and offend anybody, otherwise naturism could be banned and we lose another beach for our use. There are no beds but you can get them from the textile end, and use them, providing you return them. The weather was very good and about 20 naturists were there each day during our two weeks.
There are clean toilet facilities at the taverna.
Sept: The small track has now been closed. You have to drive to the tavern, and park, then walk to the beach. The reason for the closure is that people accessing the naturist area were ignoring the area that was taped off and parking at the far back of the beach by the forest area. The fear is that BBQ's will be used and a fire started. Why do people ignore the locals requests where not to park?
2018 Feb: Following the development at the Banana beaches it seems changes are likely here as well. The land at the back of the beach is for sale. Approx 80,000 m2. Part of the land is on the beach front. Advertised as ideal for a hotel, tourist complex or several private villas.
June: Enjoying our new home as Little Banana is off our list. About 10 refugees from LB have been here since we arrived on the 12th. Plenty of space away from the taverna and their beds, shared by naturists and textiles alike in harmony. There are no beds but you can take them from the taverna and return them later. The track referred to in Sept 2017 report is now open again. As I said before it is a beach very popular with the locals, especially at weekends, so please do not encroach upon their textile area and cause offence.
2019 June: Just had two glorious weeks on Asselinos Beach. Plenty of space available away from the textile area. At most there was about 8 other couples. Again met a few old friends who have migrated from Little Banana. General view seems to be although it will never be a LB, the ease of getting there, ample space and a good taverna goes towards making a new ‘holiday home ‘.
A word of warning though. With the continued demise of LB naturists have been moving to other beaches. This is causing problems between both textiles and naturists alike. Naturists saying they can go where they like and textiles objecting.
2021 July: Back to Skiathos, after many years. away. Went to Asselinos beach among others - on the right hand side of the beach (facing the sea) you can strip and swim in the nude. Two more couples there and some topless ladies. No-one minded…
To the right of the main beach, after the nudist part, there is a small "private" sandy beach, where you can swim to. Ideal for couples for added privacy or for some fun… The best way to approach the beach is the dirt road just opposite the apartments called Angela.
2022 June: Quite a few naturists, more than in previous years. Plenty of room for all. All that is expected is that you move away from the non-naturist area as it is a family beach especially at weekends when it is popular with locals. No beds on the naturists area, but you can take them from the main beach. All you are asked is to return them. The taverna is up and running serving good food. Toilets available. From July there is a bus service advertised to the beach.
The beach is again open with a taverna and sunbeds having been destroyed in the September storms last year. Naturists are still welcome away from the tavern and sunbeds. See previous post. No beds on the naturist’s area, but you can take them from the main beach. All you are asked is to return them. The bus service has restarted and takes you to the tavern. It runs every 90 mins from the Skiathos Town to the beach.
