Magic/Exotic Beach (Polemi)
Details
This is the first beach you come to heading west from the airport towards Kefalos, and there is a large ‘Magic Beach’ sign. The concrete access road is quite good, and the beach is one long beach of about 5km. You should fork left at Magic Restaurant, fork left again at the beach and park by the Parking sign just before the kiosk (named Exotic).
2000/1: A report from a couple whose first experience of being naked in public on a beach visited in September 2000 and May 2001 (evidently they liked it). There was only one family wearing clothes and everyone else was nude. There were other English couples there and they were very encouraging. Also Germans and French couples and a few single men.
2003/4: Contributors who visited Kos in September 2003 and May and June 2004 all reported that it was almost deserted, with the few people there almost all naked. A report from August 2003 stated “there were only a few guests and the textiles were in the minority” – and probably thought “I wish I could do that”
2005: A visitor in October took a picnic lunch for each of 5 days spent there, when the beach had just a few (mainly nude) visitors, and he and his wife enjoyed walks along the water’s edge. He rated it 95%. There are dunes with some delightful hollows at the back of the beach with juniper bushes growing there, affording some shade if the sun is too hot and you don’t have your own parasol, and some shelter if the wind is strong. Inevitably, there’s the odd single nude male wandering about there! Even in high season, it’s difficult to imagine this beach would ever get crowded.
A correspondent who visited in September reported that it would accommodate literally thousands of nudists! Otherwise, it’s a great beach with lovely clear water, and ideal for those who feel uncomfortable with textiles walking back and forth.
2006 June: Polemi beach was virtually empty when away from the sunbeds by the Exotic taverna. A few Germans dotted around, but it is no problem walking naked right to the northern end of this beach. It is a lovely beach just to be free and naked. It does get occasionally grubby with debris, but this is not a great problem.
If you turn right when you reach the beach from the access road, there are more sunbeds/parasols, and the further along you go, the more textile the beach becomes. One report of a visit in August found toplessness on the beach but no nudity. This is almost certainly just a result of seasonal variation.
2007: Barefooters who visited in May found this lovely sandy beach 100% nude. They went every day for two weeks, saw one couple 'textile' on one day, and that's all. The sunbed operator also uses the sunbeds au naturel on quiet days! They rated the beach 95%. Other July visitors spent the whole week on Exotic beach. They thought it brilliant. Pani who runs the kiosk and sunbeds was very helpful. It was 95% nude and was given a 100% rating by my reporter, who thought it the best beach he'd been on.
A September visitor says Exotic Beach is a row of two dozen umbrellas each with a pair of sunbeds (7 Euros) and is separated from and to the East of Magic Beach but on the same approach road. There is a sizeable restaurant on this road just a few minutes walk from the beach. Each pair of sunbeds has a screen on two sides giving a little seclusion and protection from the wind. All sunbeds were occupied by midday. The sand is clean and the water clear. The beach extends for quite a distance to the east and there are dunes and trees at the back of the beach, which can be used for shade. I walked quite far along in this direction and encountered very few people, all nude. Given the proximity to other populated stretches of the beach there were surprisingly few textile strollers passing Exotic Beach. Highly recommended.
2010: In front of the kiosk are sunbeds and straw parasols with netting windbreaks (costing 7 euros per day) that the owner is happy for naturists to use. Beyond the sunbeds to the east, there are no facilities whatsoever and the wide sandy beach just stretches away into the distance.
Visitors in June confirmed earlier correspondents' enthusiasm for this beach. The great majority of the sunbeds were occupied by mid-day - all by naturist couples. Some care is needed in places when entering there water, as there are flat, slippery rocks. Otherwise, perfect!
We spent 3 days at Polemi Beach in July. Morning and noon was fine, late afternoon and evening couples were having sex on the sunbeds. After the sunbeds you see mostly gay people. Some of them like showing off their erections. They do not bother you however. Families should stay at the sunbeds therefore.
Mid-July went at Polemi several times, very beautiful and pleasant, windy and cold water. 10% textile, lots of politeness.
2011: End of June: By far the best naturist beach in Kos; numero uno, the beach is clean and spotless, we were staying in Kefalos and hired a quad bike and visited the beach 3 times, you have to be very careful as you come down the steep hill from the coast road, very well signposted indeed and you cannot miss it, go past the Magic Beach Taverna on your right hand-side and go as far to your left as you can, the first part of the beach that you will come to is the main Magic beach which is completely textile, but if you continue driving past that to your left you will come to the naturist section, the sunbeds are the normal 7 euro for 2 beds and an umbrella which again you really will need, there are not many other places where you can get shade, the dunes at the back are very exposed and do not give you hardly any shade at all. The beach itself is excellent, clean and exceptionally long, again this is completely naturist with just the odd passer by that is clothed, mainly German, Dutch and a few English people.
Details confirmed after our visit in mid-July - the third holiday in which we have visited Polemi whilst on Kos. 26 pairs of quality sunbeds (some with pillows!)/straw sunshades and only about half occupied, virtually all by naturists.
Late September: Agree - the best naturist beach from the point of view of pleasant view, nice water and very little textile. Be careful entering the water as the lava rock is covered in a very light layer of algae, making it slightly slippery.
2012 July: Polemi/Exotic beach is probably the best nudist beach on island. I can confirm everything stated here before: clean, nice, calm and clear water (the water on the other side of Kos is a little warmer, but you will find more natural and human waste). A local, Panos, is running a small Kiosk with drinks, snacks, homegrown melons. Umbrella and 2 sunbeds will cost you 7 euro. 98% nude.
2014: Early June: Pretty much as above, went there twice - quite windy on both occasions - easy access, turn left for the nude beach and hire a sunbed with parasol and windbreak or take your own umbrella. Sea was very calm on both occasions. We could walk right along the beach almost to the holiday development further down and didn't see a soul (this will change in high season no doubt). All in all - very nice beach.
July/Aug: As per the update above, a sunshade and 2 beds cost 8 Euros a day, most of the 30+ positions were taken up on all of the 3 days we visited. Sea was calm each day with a nice breeze. A few textiles walked by but without any issues. I walked along the stretch of beach heading east, and only saw a couple of others walking along, almost to the development and waterpark, a good 1.2km I guess.
Aug/Sept: the best nudist beach on Kos. I've been there about 10 times and it was always close to 100% nude in the sunbeds area. Very relaxed, perfect for first time nudists. Walking towards east in the nude for more than a km is a wonderful experience. Very good for swimming. The only problem is there is no bar nor tavern: take food and refreshments or you'll have no other option than Magic Beach Restaurant, half a km away.
2016: Visited in early August and found this to be the best beach on the island that we visited. There are no facilities (other than the guy renting sunbeds and parasols - €8/day) but you can easily walk to Magic, Sunny, Paradise Beaches to visit the food and drink stalls there. It is right next to Magic Beach so easy to find (heading towards Kefalos on the main road it is well sign posted for the "Magic Beach Taverna" with a small sign for Exotic Beach underneath). When you get to the Magic Beach Taverna keep left to head towards the sand and keep left again. You'll see signs saying "Polemi Beach is Exotic" on small white wood panels so keep driving until you can go no further - you are then at the last section of loungers and this is the nudist section.
Soft sand and shallow water, when we visited the water was also really calm, warm and inviting. You can walk for about about kilometre or two almost until you get to the Blue Lagoon resort without seeing another soul, but be warned, it does get a little rockier the further you go so sandals are advised.
When we were there it was about 90% nude or nude couple with nude male/woman topless. You get a few textiles walking through, but they didn't stop and stare and nobody got any bother from them. If you walk towards Magic Beach there is a clear red sign halfway between the nude and textile sections saying "No nudists. No FKK" so at least you know which area to stay in! We visited mid-September all nude, great beach, sand and sea but it is very slippery ground in the sea, so be careful.
2016: A correspondent says: Polemi beach as such does NOT exist but is an area named after 2nd World War events. Beach clean but entry into water tricky. Peaceful lovely beach.
2024: We have visited Exotic Beach 2-3 times a year since 2011, most comfortable nudist beach we have ever used which is much appreciated as we get older. Panos now charges €12/day for 2 beds plus sunshade plus windbreak. Panos also sells beer and soft drinks from his little shelter on the beach. No seaweed and loads of fishies so bring your snorkel or waterproof camera !. Several years ago walking into the sea was sandy but now quite slippery rocks but water is quite deep by the time you reach the sand so bring grippy waterproof shoes.
Early August, Exotic beach is clearly one of the best options in Kos. At this peak season the owner charges 15€/day for a pair of sunbeds. Access to the water is made easy thanks to a path made of sandbags. The whole place is very friendly and relaxed. In addition, the empty area on the left makes good opportunities for nude walks on the sand.

We went to Magic/Exotic Beach in August 2024 and the place was stunning. Very clean and nudist friendly. The beach is something like 4-5 km long (maybe more) and from the FKK sign to east the nudist part is something like 2 to 3 km long.
Sunshades and sunbeds are offered for about 12-15€ depending on the period but if you pass over that initial area you will be alone on the beach. Amazing!
Lot of fishes in the shallow water too.
