Mastichari beach has a middle section away from the main town, but before the hotel on the south end of the beach, where quite a large number of people were naked. This is really a lovely beach, but constantly has a on-shore breeze. It is an excellent sandy beach. It does have some seaweed, but that is a testament of how clean the water is, since any water pollution would kill the seaweed and not allow it to grow.
2001: A correspondent said this was his favourite beach. One negative is the hotel complex at the other end of the beach, which means that there are passers-by. The positive aspect is that most of the passers-by from the hotel (90%) use the pass behind the dunes. The dunes are now stacked so high that the people on the beach are now unseen.
Another correspondent some years ago said this beach stretched empty to the west away from the textile zone and was his first introduction to the pleasures of walking nude along a Mediterranean beach. Another correspondent enjoyed a holiday there a few years ago, when the dunes to the west of the village allowed them to go nude, but a footpath through the dunes connecting the new development to the west may have spoilt this location for nudism.
2002 June: A contributor reported that the beach to the west of the main town beach was almost 100% nudist, with people of all ages and families having fun. The path from the new holiday complex was always fairly busy, but nobody seemed interested. The beach is clean and the water crystal clear, but washed up leaves piled up on the shoreline. Sponge sellers go up and down the beach plying their trade, and don’t mind whom they sell to. In September another report mentioned that it’s a long walk from the dunes to the water, but the beach is good and sandy, and unlikely to get really crowded, even in high season. Also, for the more adventurous nudists, follow the road to the west of Mastichari past the power station and then take one of the numerous tracks leading to the coast. You could find yourselves with a sandy beach to yourselves, backed by cliffs/dunes, although I cannot guarantee the cleanliness of it due to sea debris that can wash up.
2006 June: Barefoot reporters say this is not so much a naturist beach as a "clothing optional" one. Once past the wind-surfing school, there are many places, backed by the dunes, where nudity is accepted as normal.
The path (concreted and lit) is behind the dunes and most areas of the beach are not overlooked. The few places where there is a clear view from the path, across the beach, are parts of the beach which are not particularly attractive - so, no problem (unless you really like rocks).
Although nudity seems "quite acceptable", I would recommend care and consideration on Sunday afternoons, as many local (Greek) families choose this uncommercialised area of the beach. That said, simply going a hundred metres or so further west will take you to less popular space.
There is an almost constant on-shore wind which provides a wonderful cooling breeze and makes up for the relative lack of shade. However, it also forces a noticeable amount of broken seaweed into the first ten metres of the sea - enough to notice but not too much to make for difficulties. Overall, the breeze makes it entirely possible to stay on the beach all day - provided you remember to bring plenty to drink.
Apart from Sunday afternoons, my reporters never found any problem with going naked on this beautiful beach. Although there are a few "gawkers" who deliberately choose to walk along the beach, rather than the path, they are few and infrequent.
It seems several local residents (ex-pat, the Captain is told) bring their dogs to this beach … and strip before exercising them. Note they also ride horses along the beach…
2009 June: We visited the beach west of the power plant, using the track from The Sea Gull resort down to the beach. Fantastic nude walks for kilometres t/r walk for more than 2 hours; only occasionally we met people and they were all naked like us. No gay people "littering" the beach only couples and as said below during weekends some Greek families. However they are visible at far distance and therefore easy to clothe up for when passing. Some of these families were indeed partly naked as well. I would rate this stretch of coast as a 90%; the 10% off due to the debris and a few places where you have to do an easy climb. (However when naked and out of shoes you are very fast into trouble when climbing.) Area recommended, however there is no place to bunker up so you have to bring whatever you need for the day or the walk.
2010 July: Very beautiful and deserted beach, very warm water. One day we saw a lone local man explicitly masturbating watching us from 100m.
2015: In comparison to Tingaki zone, the village is less commercialized and in mid-May, there was almost nobody. We didn't test the beach but made a stop to the tavern near the seaside to watch sunset (nice). A new hotel was built up the seaside as indicated and indeed the beach was said to be a long one aside the road rebuilt at that time. So we guess it might still be nudist when not too close to the cafe or hotel. We found the water less attractive in this part than on the other side of the island (Kefalos and beaches) and surely a little breeze. Should be nice and be tested but it was too late for us.
2021 October: Stopped off for a quick swim on way from harbour to the airport. Still popular with nudists. Lots of weed on the tideline but clean and sandy once in the water.
2024 August: going down 100m on the left from the kitesurf school there is umbrellas and sunbeds, exclusively textiles, for the new resort's guest; after 200m there is another part with facilities for textiles and after that there is the beach of the resort which is connected by the pavement to the main town. At this time of the season the only way to practice naturism is to seek some spots on the dunes behind the walkable road (it would be necessary to put your costume on to take a bath btw)

Visited Mastichari in Sept 2023, after doing some research on this very site. I found the easiest way was to walk to a bar called Aplo and carry on the path that runs along back of the beach going away from the main town area, you’ll see a holiday complex on the left you are very close. Once you see a Olive tree (think it was ) and a well travelled beach entrance on the right of the path walk down and veer left and you are there, find somewhere to strip off .
Overall the beach is clean if you don’t mind seaweed, this is removed every few days , the sea is very inviting after bathing on 28C, there plenty of areas to strip off and enjoy the sun. Yes textiles will walk along the beach but they wont bother you. Its a mixture of singles like me and couples of varying ages and some gay men.
Do take water and food if you are spending the day there but take it back when you leave the beach for everyone’s enjoyment
