Playa de Agua Liques is on the West coast of Fuerteventura. It is only accessible by walking. The Captain walked from Costa Calma (it takes about an hour).
The coastline looks out onto the Atlantic and there is no shelter from this. As a consequence it is very rocky and the currents are strong. There is no chance of swimming and the Captain only found a very small strip of sandy beach at low tide.
You don't come here for the beach, for sunbathing, for chilling. You do come here for the sheer experience of the majesty of nature. The scenery is fantastic. A rough, wide path has been blasted through the rock and you can walk a considerable distance to admire the view. Look out for the red crabs and the life in the rock pools. Stout footwear a must.
2025 September: The Captain walked here nude from Costa Calma. Once you reach the outskirts of CC you can strip off and walk the width of the island to get to the beach. There is a dried up river bed that you can follow, although you need to fork left at some point. It's not a difficult route if you use a Map app and you can walk absolutely anywhere, you don't need to follow a path. Predecessors have left stone cairns to reassure you that you are roughly on the correct route. The route, whilst elevated, is sand and shells, indicating that it was once the seabed. The Captain met no-one on the walk in either direction, and only a few people once he arrived at the Playa, who took no notice.
