Kanali beach has two parts: the western part (see on Google maps) is accessible on a path from above. The eastern part (see on Google maps) which is more nudist, is easier to approach from Lourdas.

West Kanali This is beach is mixed or mostly textile in high season, but nudity is accepted at both ends.

In the second half of September 2010 this beach was still very good. The concrete construction in the middle of the beach and that can be seen on the photo (right), seemed to be the remains of a garden, maybe a former small beach bar. It looked deserted, although there was a working shower on the beach in front of it. Even the textile part of the beach lacked this luxury! Never too many people on the beach, not even at the weekends. Some walkers passing by, but not disturbing nor disturbed by the nude sunlovers. Highly recommended.

East Kanali Walking toward northwest there are big rocks (easy to pass through), after those it's nudist area, this is the eastern part of Kanali.

Wonderful sandy beach! Follow the sign to Kanali on the road and park the car just there (a space for no more than 10 cars). The path is about 500 m and isn't easy because goes down very fast!! So keep drinkable water for the return (I was back at the time of 8 min. but I am fit). The beach is textile, allmost all women were topless. Only the last 30 m. to the left facing the see occupated by nudists, they were there two nudist couples, a lonely woman and a lonely man when we where there. Because we where there at high season (August), it seems that the naked part of the beach can be larger on July or September. Go there!

2013 August: walking from Lourdas toward Trapezaki (on the beach) for 10/15 minutes we arrived on a lovely beach which was mainly nudist and separated from Lourdas main beach by big rocks. The place was very quiet. Some textiles walking on the beach, but they did not bother us. Some of them tried nudism (not habitual nudists considering they were not tanned beneath their costumes).

An important thing: it's a site for the Caretta caretta's nest, so pay attention when putting your umbrella or windbreak into the sand.

2017 May: We visited the beach on two days. The first occasion we had it to ourselves. Two days later, we shared it with one other couple. In the afternoon a local man came to swim and walk his dog, but otherwise we were undisturbed. The beach is pretty clean, there are a couple of litter bins, and the locals make an effort to ensure the footpath down is accessible.

June: I was a bit surprised when you said walk down the slope 10 minutes and occasional muddy!? Park the car at the top and walk down the path, yes it was muddy as there is fresh water coming down between the fields and sometimes there was water on footpath, nothing too bad. When you get down the concrete stairs to the beach, you have to walk to the left and pass the rock outcrop, that's where the naturist beach is. Don't stay by the stairs as we did and 20 minutes later 5 groups of textile families came down with kids. We figured out that we are minority and moved to the left end, behind the rock there were people there, up to 20 people in total, it was quite busy we thought. It's a nice beach; you can talk to people as you're very close to each other.

July: The beach is perfect; only nudist people. The beach is the second after a group of rocks coming from Lourdata, the best and easy way. The coordinates are: //[https://goo.gl/maps/PqGsoyErzc52]//

September (the end of): A short walk from Lourdas along the foreshore. It is also accessible from a road (goat track), footpath and steps inland from the beach. This route is short but in places is steep. It can also be reached by walking from Trapezaki beach along the foreshore. Again not too difficult a route although the rocks are a little trickier to negotiate. Kanali is a lovely secluded sand and white pebble beach. As might be expected, the beach has no facilities. Beyond the waterline the sea bed shelves gradually and is mostly soft sand. It is good for swimming and entering the water is easy. Wet shoes are not necessary, but as there are a few patches of pebbles, may be preferred or simply look for an entry point that is all sand. There seems to be three sections of beach separated by rocks but it is unclear if the rightmost section is Kanali or Trapezaki. When we visited naturists were present on all three sections with the centre section being more popular and almost entirely naturist.

2018 June: The best beach in the island. Easiest access: first follow the road to Lourdas beach. At Lourdas beach follow the sign "to Lithero beach - Lithero tavern" (to the right). Park at the end of the road and walk following the unpaved road to the left. A small harbour is there and after that you will be at Lithero beach (pebble beach, dressed bathers). Walk all the length of this beach until the first rocks complex, about 180m. After the first rock you will see naturists and you can undress! We went more days to this beach (late June). Every day was nice, about 10 nude couple at the beach plus 2-3 single men and 1-2 single women. All bathers were nude except a blonde topless woman who had the nicest boobs there. One day an Italian couple had sex next to us, not bothered. Once at first complex of rocks coming from Lourdas was a fat local voyeur taking photos while masturbating (how pathetic).

June: Just to confirm the naturist bit of the Lourdas/Kaneli/Trapezaki beach is the second section to the west of Lourdas and is an easy walk from the little harbour below the Lithero tavern. This is the section immediately beyond the rocks at the eastern end of Kaneli beach (that is the bit of beach where the path comes down) but getting past these rocks is a bit of a scramble so quickest to approach from Lourdas. Visited several times in first half of June. The beach was never busy with just a few couples (both nude and nude+topless) and a few individuals of both sexes. Nobody having sex (!) and no wankers (in both senses!). The walk from Lourdas to Trapezaki is popular - there is a regular bus service joining the two - so textiles walk along the beach but no-one batted an eye at the nudity on display. Sandy with easy access to beautiful clear water.

June: We went twice there, a Saturday and another day. Saturday the beach was entirely textile, with families. The other day we met there a couple consisting of a nude man and topless woman plus one single topless woman. Lourdas beach is definitely better, so we left.

2019 May: A wet start to the month meant that much of the snaking path down from the cliff top car park was waterlogged. When the forecast is for a sunny day, Kanali is popular, even with a few textiles. We walked to Kanali from Lourdas beach, although we still prefer the walk down from the park at the top. September: Walking from Lithero Taverna at the north end of Lourdas, it takes just a few minutes to cross the first beach and then after some rocks find nudists in the coves and bays. On the two visits we had it was almost enirely nudists on a lovely beach with good swimming and snorkelling. Lithero is perfectly placed for lunch and a cool Mythos. July/August: Has to be a contender for the best naturist beach on the island! Easily reached past the Lithero taverna as described (so probably Kanali not Lourdas strictly speaking). Even in the high season, 90 - 100% naturist. Visited a couple of times as the sun set and 100% naturist even then.

2020 September: Found this to be the best-attended naturist beach in Kefalonia with about 20 attenders (a lot given the pandemic). I recommend approaching from the Lithero taverna and walking west, although this route will probably involve getting your feet wet as you round one of the rocks. Lovely sand and a makeshift shower has been set up with a hose partway along. All naturist, 50/50 male/female.

The first time I approached from the Kanali car park, which is a beautiful but long walk down (and back up) to the beach. This gets you to a beach which I found to be mostly textile. Don't think as I did that this is all there is! Walk left/east and cross the rocks and then you'll be on the all-naturist beach I mentioned above.

2022 July: We went on a weekday afternoon from Lourdata, an easy 5 minutes walk from Lithero restaurant. There are sunbeds on the beach before the rocks, but that beach was basically empty. (When we returned from Kanali (6:30 pm) there was an older naked couple on one of the sunbeds.). After the first bigger rocks (east Kanali) it was unquestionably clothing optional area. About 80% of the people were nude, mostly couples, even a few families, about 30-40 people altogether. Some women were topless, and I saw a man in swim trunks while his girlfriend/wife was naked. There were a few textiles close to the big rock but no one really cared about who wears what. This time I didn't visit the east Kanali beach. 2nd visit a few days later on a Sunday afternoon: west Kanali was mainly textile with a few topless women and even fewer naked man on both ends of the beach. The east Kanali was basically the same as in my earlier report above (mostly nudist).
