Quite tricky to get there but really worth the trip! As stated in a report from August 2013 there are 3 small beaches with few people. As often happens, the first one sets the trend, as confirmed in 2018. The beauty of these 3 coves is overwhelming!
The south and central beaches are mainly pebbly with little coarse sand, the northern one just pebbly. The colours and shapes of the rocks are simply incredible as well as the beauty of the colourful pebbles themselves.
The central beach is the longest one, but not the prettiest. The prettiest are indeed the southern and northern ones: in the former the colourful rocks look like a work of art with incredible reddish, green and yellow patterns, due to the intense geothermal activity derived from the volcanic history of the island, whilst in the latter one (north), the very little bay is outstandingly beautiful because of the shapes of the rocks, forming arches and columns that deliver unreal and oniric landscape…. you can also swim and snorkel under the pillars and arches, unbelievable beauty!
As the coves are oriented eastwards it is better to get there during the morning or early afternoon; sunset in the southern beach comes first, then on the central one, finally in the northern one.
No tavernas here, so take water and food with you!
2018 July: one correspondent rated this idyllic setting 95% due to the fact that the beaches were textile and nude mixed, otherwise it would have been 100%! Excellent snorkelling and swimming around the spectacular landscape.
In late September a naked couple stayed for some time in the central and southern coves, while 2 textile and 1 naturist couples were already there. There was no problem with nudity, but it depends which people you get on that specific day and who sets the trend!
Once the couple swam and snorkelled towards the beautiful shapes of the northern red rocks, the third and most secluded cove opened up as in a dream, as it was completely deserted and accessible under a pretty red rock natural arch: AWESOME! The couple swam rapidly back to the main beach in order to dress up and take the above-mentioned left turn, descending by foot the steep final section and setting the trend for the rest of the day in the paradise-like little cove.
One of the best experiences in a lifetime, as the tiny northern cove is completely isolated from the rest of the world: when someone arrived from the bad dirt road and saw the naked couple, they fled away letting them experience an Adam&Eve situation during all the afternoon… perfect place for a couple or people who want to explore the wonderful rocks around, rating can only be 200%!
2022 September: every cove was occupied by one textile couple and it's quite difficult to reach by car
2023 July: We found our "paradise" in Kastanas Bay See on Google Maps. As described by you, it is possible to drive by car until just before the beaches. But it is important to do the last part on foot. At the northernmost end behind a rocky outcrop we were completely undisturbed and to ourselves. Simply beautiful!
