The Captain has received various reports about this beach but has not yet been there himself, so this has been re-compiled from the more recent reports. There is a bus service 6 times daily (2010 - three trips out and back) or you can go by car - all tarmac. In season you may be able to arrive there by boat from Empourios Beach too.

Paliochori beach is widely thought one of the best beaches in Greece. It is the second biggest on Milos, about 1500m long with 3 sections, separated by high rocky promontories. The alignment is west-east, with a spectacular cliff peninsula beyond the east end. Since much of the rock is soft, cliff-climbing is inadvisable and you should check the face above you when setting up 'camp' below (VERY IMPORTANT IN CASE OF STRONG WINDS). Nudists may be found on each section, but you will have to assess the situation on each day for yourself, even though the easiest place to find skinny dippers is going eastwards.

The west beach is the smallest and is most easily reached via the tall archway above the final descent to the hamlet - the bus stops here on request. Access is through the taverna and down quite a lot of steps. This is nowadays a nudist beach only in the sense that no-one is likely to complain; at one time it had the reputation of being the gay beach. There is a smell of sulphur and when you swim out a wee bit and stand on the sandy bottom it feels quite warm. The area is obviously volcanic (the whole island is the top of an old and very large volcano - hence the mineral deposits). It used to be possible to get to/from the central beach by a natural tunnel along part of the shore, but this was closed by a rockfall in 2001 so, unless you are prepared to wade or swim, you have to use a rough track over the top, zig-zagging down to the hamlet. Some other websites suggest there is a natural sauna inside the rocks to the west…but didn't try it because there were no nudists when our correspondants went there.

The central main beach is about 800m long and there are some seasonal cantinas from about 300m along from the three tavernas fronting the hamlet (Sirocco is famous for "volcano cooking" the meals directly inside the warm ground). Like the others, it is mainly sandy (quite coarse though) with excellent bathing. Most bus passengers go no further. The east end can be partly, totally nudist or clothing-optional.

The east beach (now frequented by some gays, the Captain is told) is reached by continuing through the rocks, around the point, then along a series of ledges usually just above water level. This is a pretty beach with several 'bays' between interesting water-worn rocks, but no facilities. Overwhelmingly naturist, sand and pebbles.

2007 July: A Barefooter says the area on the left-hand side (facing the sea) behind the rocks still remains naturist with a good mixture of locals and tourists. During the day, though, small groups of Greeks who refuse to take off their bathing suits, still pop up but do not seem to care about the naturists.

2010 June: At the end of an easy main road you reach this long beach in a wide gulf on the East part of the island. There are also three bars/restaurants. On the very right, this private small part of the beach is now occupied by a bar/restaurant that effectively has the monopoly of it. This is where a few thermal hot waters get into the  sea. On the very left, beyond some fallen rocks, there is a secluded part: gay crowd (well, perhaps a few, thinks another visitor), nudist people. Nice clear sands under big cliffs, beautiful colours, blue waters but no natural shade.

July: Nudists are still clinging to the east end of the central beach as well, although heavily outnumbered.

2011 July: The nude section is definitely on the East side of the beach (turn left as you enter the beach). The west side has indeed turned into a beach bar.

To reach the nude section, there is some scrambling across rocks necessary. When we were there, it was a mix of nude and textile, but as we joined the nudes, it seems as if we created a trend. Some new people who reached this end of the beach obviously had not planned on getting nude (judging by their behaviour and tan lines), but gave it a try anyway. After a while (some of the textiles had left) the entire beach behind the rocks was nude.

2013 August: 0% nudity. Again one of the busiest beaches on the island. [Well - it was August…]

2015 August: Having been to all the beaches mentioned on this website and accessible by the marvellous network of BUSES from Adamas, I would advise all nudism candidates to go to Paleochori (last bus to come back to Adamas at 7.45 pm).

Once you are at the bus terminus, walk on the beach to the extreme left/east (short portion in the rocks after the beach bar and umbrellas) and then you will find the BEST + CLEANEST + really SUNNY (up to 8.00 in August) nudist beach on Milos (and not so busy with textiles walkers/swimmers).

The last metres of the textile beach after the beach bar are already 50/50 but mostly 50/50 couples which are not real naturists because only males are naked. After the rocks, and the further the better, you can walk and swim naked up to the cape.

2016 June: hard to get past the rocks. The east end (before the rocks) was 100% nude. Not too busy. I was in the middle between the bar and the rocks and could go nude.

2018 July: a correspondant rated this beach 85% and stayed both on the central and eastern beaches; the path to the eastern beach had turned somehow tricky due to a landslide, but with tennis shoes there was no major problem getting there. Quiet place and other nudists around.
late September: In a strong Meltemi day the west beach was 100% textile (very nicely protected from the north gusts), whilst on the eastern part of the central beach (the less exposed to Meltemi in this section) many textiles had invaded the naturist part, making it not very comfortable. Despite this occurrence, there were 1-2 naked singles and 1 naked couple among the textiles. The barefooter couple didn't feel too confident about staying there despite the beautiful rocks behind the beach and crystal-clear waters, thus trekking through the narrow and steep path over the above-mentioned landslide to the eastern beach, where 2 couples of nudists and 1 of textiles were lying down. Beautiful secluded beach, not too easy to reach, spectacular cliffs and very nice snorkeling! Some sulphur smell due to the volcanic activity there… due to the bad weather the couple stayed there just 2 hours, protected from the strong Meltemi that caused some little stones to roll down to the beach (be careful where to lie!). The eastern beach was rated 100% from the couple.

2022 September: we stayed at the eastern end of the main beach, there were 2 other nudist hetero couples. Clear water, beautiful day. On the following day though, the beach was swept by meltemi (so we went to Achivadolimni)
